Poryoe's Newborn
Once again, I admit the power of the Law of Attraction.
The moment I learned what I have received, my mind was filled with warmness and the charming bless from the place this gift was sent. The seed, the life, the plant that will grow to become sentient, are all part of my profession yet I found myself surprised by this gift like a little girl holding her dreamed doll.
Poryoe's Newborn is its title. I imagined, with the seed in my hands, that whoever decided to send it had to have no idea where and who is going to receive, same as when I put that 1314 coupon to the gift box. Through a random (or nevertheless unpredictable) selection, I, Velluna Allussian, the plant consultant at Euforia Bakery, got it. I couldn't think of an explanation other than "being chosen", that it was attracted by my strong obligation to flowers and trees, that is was meant to be with me. Years ago, in a similar gift-exchange event, my sister Vita happened to get another seed that would grow into a sentient Christmas tree, which is now lively sitting by her balcony. And again, seed surprised me, and us.
May I think this as the manifestation of the God of Love?
I can't doubt it.
Let's talk about Poryoe's Newborn.
Basically, it is a seed to be planted. It is rather flat, like a melon seed but larger, with reddish, coarse surface. At one end of the seed there is a curved sting, shaped like those seem on a water caltrop. A white ring pattern is at its center, making the whole seed appears to resemble a Poryoe Bird, where its name comes from.
Along with the seed was a letter, words are beautifully hand-written but in a simple, instructional tone describing the procedure to plant Poryoe's. I took the seed with two fingers, sitting beside the garden and repeatedly read through the letter. Other sentient plants like violetica and lumminatica sensed me in their cute, proactive ways; they were in great curious about Poryoe's as I was.
"Sender says that Poryoe's does not require being sunlit nor watered, all I have to do is to make wishes every day and it will eventually become what I am thinking of. What do you think?"
I asked my fellow plants, they either made a lot of exciting sounds, or barely tried to move closer to the pot that had the seed. They drew all kinds of suggestions, from little leaves to tiny trunks, or even another flower pot. I smiled bitterly; in the end plants are plant, even with sentience and able to feel and talk, their aesthetic senses still differ a lot from ours. Those suggestions were too cute for a mature valentine gift; they were much more fit to Vita, though.
Therefore, I appeased my exciting friends, and made a little wish deep in my heart. I wanted Poryoe's to become something matches perfectly with the Day of Love, something that could become part of my own romance.
"Nerozhdeny, what would you like if you're being offered such a choice? "
I peak around the corner, watching him resolving Eggos' issues.
What about a sewing machine?

Even if it is actually a plant, it moves, just like Alice's dessert creations that serve household functions. I believe it can be used to sew scarfs, socks, mini cloths, or other artistic pieces. He must like it.
This is what I am going to wish, a little wooden sewing machine, with some leaves, stems, and my hidden words.
I moved Poryoe's to a larger pot, and put it in the dining hall on the 3rd floor of Euforia Bakery, where Nerozhdeny goes to every day. I imagine him seeing the plant progressively transform into a miracle, though his eyes never blink.
I think this is what the name "Newborn" mean.
